PROPLAY / THE CARE PLAYBOOK
Take care of the glove. Keep making plays.
A practical routine for a glove that gets used. Always follow the instructions for your exact model and material first.
01 / After the last out
Remove surface dirt with a soft cloth. If your manufacturer permits it, use a lightly damp cloth, then let the glove dry naturally. Avoid soaking it or using a heater.
02 / Build the pocket slowly
Play catch and work the glove gradually. Skip ovens, microwaves, boiling water, and unapproved steaming. Check return terms before starting break-in.
03 / Know your material
For leather, use only a treatment approved for that glove and apply sparingly. Do not assume leather oils are suitable for synthetic materials. If the material is unclear, ask before treating it.
04 / Between games
Store the glove in a cool, dry place. A suitable ball in the pocket can help preserve its shape. Keep heavy equipment from crushing it.
Before your next game
Check the web and laces for damage. If anything is torn or loose, ask a qualified glove repair specialist before continued play.
